Doggu Baggu

A graphic design layout featuring a bag with a dog eating various asian cuisine, and a photo of Humphrey and Pota, two french bulldogs.

My friend sent Arlo some cute toys from Spotted by Humphrey (since I had been gushing about them recently) for his 7th birthday! I tagged SBH on social and ended up chatting with Sandy, the business owner, since we’re both Korean and she liked my doggo illustrations! We bonded over being obsessed dog moms, and started thinking of how we can celebrate that in a way that supports other asian dog moms and their pups.

We wanted whatever we made to be cute, relatively affordable, and supportive of AAPI and doggo communities. Spotted by Humphrey donated 100% of profits from the sale of every DOGGU BAGGU in November 2021 to Harbin SHS: “Among many amazing things, they rescue dogs from the meat trade in China and help them find forever-homes all over the world through partner rescues.” (View original post here)

We decided to use Baggu reusable / foldable bags, because they were able to print over patterned bags (adding visual detail to the negative spaces), and for the fun phrase “doggu baggu.” Yet another thing Sandy and I bonded over was our love for silly portmanteaus, puns, and alliterations. The photo of Arlo above is from when I visited SF and we happened upon a bunch of items in the same shade of lavender ☻
